Discussion:
This sloka is from Upanishads. I believe it is taught as a preliminary sloka before starting school/learning.  When we first start any class, we have "class rules of conduct". This sloka, according to me,  seems to have a tone of setting the conduct requirements in a gurukul/school.  Here are simple rules of conduct that can be applied in life too :).
1) We have to be tolerant to others. In other words, respect others.
2) Everything equally belongs to all. So be tolerant in enjoying. Everybody has a right to enjoy.
3)Together, with full energy, everybody should work.
4) enlighten each other, by learning.
5) Do not invite animosity.
6) Let there be peace! Be peaceful and let others be peaceful :).

It is interesting that it does have a greater scope than just the school.  This is my take on this sloka. Any comments that would help in better understanding of this sloka are welcome.
